DEC Legal Requirements
By 1st October 2008 public sector occupiers of larger buildings, will need to have presented a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) in a prominent place clearly visible to the public.
A DEC may only be issued by an accredited energy assessor. It shows the energy performance of a building based on actual energy consumption (Operational Rating) as recorded annually over periods up to the last three years. A Display Energy Certificate (DEC) needs to be updated each year.
New arrangements have now been announced that allow a single site based DEC and AR can be produced to cover all qualifying buildings on the whole site. Please see our DEC FAQ page or contact us for more information.
Watch the DEC videoA DEC must be accompanied by an Advisory Report (AR) lists cost effective measures to improve the energy rating of a building. An Advisory Report is valid for 7 years.
Please see our DEC Downloads section for more useful information.
